MZO should be used very rarely. The present government has been using them too often. Re green belt and environmental concerns, the expertise and authority of Conservation Authorities should be respected and deferred to. MZO should not be overriding the plans and wishes of municipalities.
I am a resident of Ontario and I am vehemently against these proposals that give the Minister enhanced authority to make changes along with Ford to the zoning in this province.

I believe this proposal is an affront to the democratic process. It does not allow other stakeholders -municipalities, individuals to participate on a level playing field. It is not transparent in that proposed act does not require a public viewing.
I do not support provisions that further enhance the authority of the Ministry without an obligatory, meaningful and deliberative process of consultation with all stakeholders, including community groups and local residents.

1. The Muncipal Zoning Order (MZO) was originally conceived to allow for the Minister to make zoning decisions for an unincorporated municipality not having a Zoning Bylaw etc.

The ministry should repeal this proposed planning act. This would result in too much power to the political group in charge at any single point in time.
The municipality must represent the citizens in the municipality. The province and the municipality must work together.
