The Minister SHOULD NOT have enhanced authority to address certain matters as part of a zoning order, PERIOD. It simply isn’t necessary.

The provincial government currently has far too much power with zoning orders. The Dominion Foundry Complex in Toronto is simply the latest and most outrageous example of the province moving ahead on a project with no notice or consultation. Read more

The Ford government's changes to the Planning Act gives them far too much power, with zoning orders overriding responsible planning & environmental protections.

MZO should be used very rarely. The present government has been using them too often. Re green belt and environmental concerns, the expertise and authority of Conservation Authorities should be respected and deferred to. MZO should not be overriding the plans and wishes of municipalities.

I am writing to oppose these proposed changes to the Planning Act. The powers given to the provincial government through these amendments are too far-reaching, and lack accountability to ensure that the government is acting in good faith. Read more

I believe this proposal is an affront to the democratic process. It does not allow other stakeholders -municipalities, individuals to participate on a level playing field. It is not transparent in that proposed act does not require a public viewing.

I think the huge increase in the number of MZO issued by the Ford government over 2.5 years in office vs the 15 year run of the Liberals says a lot. Read more

The ministry should repeal this proposed planning act. This would result in too much power to the political group in charge at any single point in time. The municipality must represent the citizens in the municipality. The province and the municipality must work together. Read more
