This legislation will significantly impact recreational boating for those who enjoy spending time at different anchor locations , i.e. Lake Simcoe to and into Georgian Bay. The regulation as proposed would inhibit most "cruising" type boating activities. Read more

Being a boater on lake Simcoe who is at anchor every weekend in the summer I find this way too restrictive as the majority of reasonable anchorages will fall within these regulations and having to find a new location everytime out is unreasonable at best. Read more

While the goal of the proposed changes is laudable, the specifics of the proposed changes seem inappropriate. The prohibition against anchoring within 300m or developed shoreline will effectively eliminate many commonly used anchorages on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Read more

I understand the basic premise of the changes in terms of protecting certain areas of the natural environment etc. and seemingly to appease the owners of shoreline properties in their quest for peace and quiet. Read more

We use our boat the same as cottages to enjoy the outdoors and waterways with our families. We are always respectful of cottages and find anchorages that do not impede on cottages. We are respectful of noise and treat the waterways with respect and safety is always in the forefront. Read more

This new law will destroy recreational boating . Not only for my family but for all. It’s giving the rights of crown land/water to shore owners.there must be a better way to protect both.

We are boaters from the Owen Sound area. My wife and I are retired and try and spend our summers sailing in the North Channel. We try and stay away from cottages and homes because we like our privacy too. Read more

This should only pertain to floating homes, not motorized vessels (boats). There's many spots in Ontario that boats anchor near beaches or sandbars for a day of swimming with the family. Children should never swim in open deep water. Read more

Please understand that from what I read, these changes are written for cottage owners who don't want to share waters with boaters. It goes way past people who are trying to find less expensive homes and their possible skirting of taxation and permits. Read more

As the owner of a sailboat that cruises around Lake Ontario and beyond, I think the 300m rule would be excessive. I suspect that is being driven by land owners, but as someone that uses the waterways and many times have to tuck in to avoid weather, 300m is excessive. Read more

While I understand there are issues with near-permanent "houses that happen to float". The wording is far too restrictive for those that are normal boaters with vessels that one can (somewhat) live on for a few days or a week. Read more
