I am opposed to this. There are good reasons based on science and fact and democracy that these activities were regulated. If this proposal passes - water raking will take place without public consultation, without the need to notify conservation authorities, etc. Read more

I am concerned that conservation authorities will no longer be informed and that this may not align with a changing climate as too much water may be taken resulting in possible water shortages and public participation is important

On the ground studies MUST be done to fully understand the impact of water taking on each individual site, not based on some computer modeling from some far away location. No one has tested our wells to find out what the the baseline of water composition is. Read more

As a farmer I am in support of the current method of evaluating water-taking by industry. Any change in this level of approval for a permit to take water would be the end of trying to protect our very precious ground water.
