Using fish or any edible bait, live or dead, encourages fish and non target animals to swallow hooks, causing great suffering, and makes it harder to release non target animals. Also, how are the fish killed for bait? Read more

That would make more sense!!! I live in Chapleau which is the center of two FMZ and the rules that are already in place is making it impossible as an angler.

This proposal would be acceptable to those moving bait but will be difficult to enforce. How will a Conservation Officer know where the preserved bait came from. Any preserved bait transported would have to contain where the bait was obtained from during transportation. Read more

We have been harvesting bait for 25yrs. Harvesting for the purpose of killing and preserving to fill a need in the retail market does not make sense to me. Allowing flexibility on exiting and re-entering a zone for the purpose of fishing makes sense. Read more

I believe this proposal and the amendment to allow the transport of preserved baitfish and leeches is an excellent way to provide anglers looking to fish in rural Ontario with better chances of successful fishing harvests. Read more

This proposal would simplify our fishing and hunting as we fly into areas and always would just bring salted minnows to use from home now we have to find a bait dealer for the area we fly into. Thanks

I would like to propose a couple of changes to the bait regulations that make a lot more sense than current regulations. I own a fishing lodge on a remote lake and posses a harvester bait licence. Read more

I think the existing regulations on bait fish, leeches, worms, etc is way to strict. The local suppliers have a hard time keeping up with demand and they have a monopoly on pricing. Open up the boundaries to allow more opportunities to buy form a variety of bait vendors. Thank you.

Please do not allow the “harvest” of animals for bait. Please do not allow animals to be used as fishing bait. The bait animals suffer, so do the fish when they swallow the hooks.

From my perspective, the emerald shiner abundance has been increasing to my benefit for the last few years. I have been working hard to minimize my waste by means of learning biological filtration and by figuring out ways to reduce stress (especially at the front end of the harvest). Read more

I am in favor of allowing the transport of baitfish and leeches across BMZ boundaries. In addition to the reasons mentioned (remote access/communities, road networks), it would allow the angler more flexibility in bodies of water he or she can fish. Read more
