I have lived in close proximity to Algoma Steel for more than 30 years now. There has never been a time that seemed to have less particulate over any other time that I can remember. Things noticeably begin to accumulate as soon as the sun sets and taper off prior to sun rise. Read more

This is absolutely ridiculous. We live in a beautiful city that already faces way too much noise, water and air pollution from the steel plant. We have one of the highest levels of Multiple Sclerosis in Canada and we wonder why? Read more

As a physician in Sault Ste Marie I am against an environmental waiver of any kind for ALGOMA Steel given that Sault Ste Marie has the highest cancer rates in the province per 100,000 population. If any thing they should be more stringent. Read more

The Algoma Steel Corporation has functioned under special environmental exceptions for too long. The effects of the chemical and air pollution produced by the industry can be seen in the St. Mary's river, but more importantly the city's cancer rates. Read more

Please do not grant Algoma Steel any more exemptions from air and noise pollution standards. They have been allowed to pollute the city for long enough. Please enforce the standards that have already been in place, and please place greater standards on the Plant going forward. Read more
