I am a resident on the 10th Line of the Town of The Blue Mountains, virtually in the centre of the proposed Conservation Reserve. I support the preservation of this area in perpetuity. Few recall it was one of the 80 Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest created many, many years ago.

Ontario is home to the largest remaining stand of old growth red pine anywhere in the world. This 1,600-hectare old growth forest is found at Wolf Lake, in the northeast corner of Greater Sudbury.

The old growth Catchacoma forest is unique to Canada. There is extensive research to support the value of this significant old growth eastern hemlock forest, including its capacity for sequestering carbon, as a home to at-risk species and the presence of rare ecosystems on site.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on Proposal 019 9306. After reviewing the proposal and the supporting material, I have several concerns with the plan to regulate an additional 43 parcels under the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 (PPCRA).

This proposal assigns a high priority to hunting and, to a lesser extent, motorized recreation - including in some southern Ontario locations where public safety issues will be a concern.

Wolf Lake in the NE part of the province contains the world's last remaining stand of old growth red pine forest. It has also been a beloved canoe tripping route for over 50 years by camps and outfitters, and a historical First Nations canoe route along the Chiniguchi River system.

I support expanding the Boyne Valley Park but I emphatically oppose opening it for hunting. My wife and I hike in that park regularly all year around and we do not want to be at risk of being shot. Please do not allow hunting in this park. It is far too dangerous.
I’m supportive of the initiative to create and expand protected areas in Ontario.
I am a recreational hiker/birder/skier/etc. and I like this specific proposal because it protects the lands I love to visit (can name a specific location, Kolapore, Beaver Valley, etc.).

This proposal is massive - congratulations on all your work. I doubt there will be significant increases in provincial staff or budget to manage these new protected areas so the government will need to leverage existing land stewardship resources.

Thank you for the information about Conservation Reserve status changes.
I am writing specifically about the Kolapore Uplands area and the Kolapore Wilderness Trails.

Please reconsider allowing hunting in the proposed area around Primrose Elementary School. This is unnecessary and could cause preventable serious/potentially life threatening accidents.
