Building HWY 413 is an irresponsible use of taxpayers dollars and does not provide the value that the current Ontario Government is proposing. Much cheaper alternatives to traffic congestion include moving trucks to the 407. Other key concerns are: Read more

We do not need more highways, destroying environmentally sensitive lands. This will only induce more demand for space to drive - if the massive amount of 400-series highways Ontario has already hasn't stopped "gridlock" a few more lanes is going to make no difference. Read more

I am looking for the business case that supports the building of highway 413. Most non-government commentators feel that 413 is not needed and a waste of precious money that could be better spent elsewhere. I think that the business case will help me to make up my own mind. Thanks.

I am compelled to voice my concern of the Highway 413 initiative and the Northwest GTA Transmission Corridor plan due to the environmental consequences that will arise as a result of this project. Read more

We do not need more highways - we already have the underused 407 running a similar route to the proposed new highway. To reduce congestion, we need more investment in alternatives to personal vehicle infrastructure. Read more

I am against this project. I find it ego driven, not fact or science based. This highway will only exacerbate our already troubling trend of dependance on fossil fuels. The science is clear. There are multitudes of studies. Highways do not alleviate gridlock, it only encourages more cars. Read more

It's inappropriate to plan a major highway expansion in a climate emergency. Spending the money on public transit would be far better. It's hard to capture how big a betrayal this highway is of all young people.

I like the idea of a bypass going west, but my concern is where the bypass ends. This may result in an increased load on the streets paralleling the 407 between the 401 and 403. Read more

This hwy is totally unnecessary and you know it. Shame on your government for paying off the developers wth this Christmas present! It will cost us billions of taxpayers money and severely damage our environment and health. Years to develop while traffic needs a solution now. Read more

It appears that a substantial amount of land will be paralyzed needlessly for an indefinite period. It would seem that delay in route selection and waste of lands that could be beneficially developed could be obviated if power was transmitted on and along the highway route. Read more

I strongly oppose the building of highway 413. Research demonstrates that in the end the highway does not significantly reduce commuter time, supports sprawl and increased use of cars which continue to pollute our environment! Read more

It’s long overdue to build this Hwy so that drivers would benefit by saving on time and gas. EA has been going on since at least 1998 and it has been determined to be feasible and environmentally sound, let alone economically sound. IT IS TIME to build.

I am very concerned by the highway 413 proposal. The habitat loss that is already happening in the Halton and Peel regions is devastating, not to mention the prime farmland that is being ploughed over. Read more

We need the Green Belt intact. Refinements are not good enough. Period. This highway should not go ahead at all. There are no refinements that will avoid the environmental tragedy about to unfold. Read more
