I an opposed to the changes proposed by bill 5 as they will wipe out endangered and protected species in Ontario. As someone who had roommates in environmental science and took discovery modules related to the environment in undergrad and law school, I see this as a massive issue.
I oppose Bill 5 the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act - As it stands.
All development should have proper environmental assessment, public input and indigenous consultation. The Government should not have unilateral decision making power.

I strongly oppose Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation poses a serious threat to Ontario’s natural heritage, democratic processes and Indigenous rights. As it includes schedules to so many other Acts, it undermines democratic citizen involvement.

Bill 5 ignores the often critical role that flora and fauna play in our food systems. We need to not only ensure that endangered species are protected but their habitats - as well as critical corridors for larger predators. Biodiversity is linked to climate change issues.
