I believe that as currently written, the proposed legislation is unworkable and will fail to achieve its stated goals. In particular, the shift from approval before the fact to enforcement after the fact will require an increase in funding for enforcement agencies. Read more

There are several very concerning things in the proposed legislation that make it seem like a government power grab rather than a serious attempt to improve the legislation. For example, the increased ability for the government to overrule the decisions of COSSARO. Read more

I'm outraged at the "Proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and a proposal for the Species Conservation Act, 2025" These changes would end Endangered Species Protections and attack Clean Energy. This is not acceptable. This is not the kind of Ontario I want to live in. Read more

Once again, the Ontario government fails to recognize that we, as humans, are part of the ecosystem they want to destroy. Every life, floors or fauna plays a part and all the dollars in your back pocket don't change that. Don't be a Harper. You saw what happened to him. Read more

It is obvious that destroying the habitat surrounding the immediate nest or 'living vicinity' about an endangered species member is destruction of the ecosystem that permits that member to thrive.

First the greenbelt and now this to sidestep any protection of Ontario’s nature. There was a reason this legislation was implemented and it was to protect what we have in Ontario, so that development can be carefully reviewed. Read more

I strongly opposes the changes being made to the Endangered Species Act. The proposed changes will weaken the provinces biodiversity and put additional species at increased risk. This approach of putting economic decisions above scientific realities is short sighted. Read more
