I am strongly opposed to this proposed legislation, which unreasonably classifies a proven conservation process as "unnecessary delays and costs for housing, transit, and critical infrastructure." The current government's approach is, effectively, to steamroll current conservation practices in order Read more

You cannot meet climate targets while demolishing the very ecosystems that store carbon, filter water, and stabilize temperatures. This repeal makes your climate promises a lie. Nature balances itself. Read more

The government should not have authority to modify protected habitats or species lists. This is a clear conflict of interest. It is not worth selling out our own province in order to maybe slightly increase construction speeds in areas we don’t want construction anyway. Read more

I am opposed to the proposed changes. Most of the species at risk in Ontario continue to decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation. I cannot see how these changes benefit species at risk which is the purpose of the Endangered Species Act. Read more

I am a biologist employed in Ontario, and I am concerned about the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act. This act has so far been effective at protecting not only individual species, but whole communities and ecosystems, but the proposed changes all but entirely dismantle it. Read more

This is an extremely concerning piece of legislation being proposed. Ontario's record on endangered species protection has already been severely compromised. The Ministry has approved permits for more than 6,000 activities that would otherwise be prohibited under the ESA. Read more

I am deeply concerned that Bill 5 does not protect our environment and Endangered Species as well as our current protections do. I worry the definitions are vague and not backed by scientists and experts in the field of environmental protections and Endangered Species. Read more

I will be beyond disappointed if this bill passes. This bill will get rid of so many guidelines that we currently use for development from getting rid of the endangered species act to not consulting indigenous people. This is not the way forward. Read more

Do not let this pass. Processes like this naturally take time and require detailed efforts in order to determine risks in full. Changes like these create abusive pathways and are likely to wreak havoc on entire ecosystems that also negatively impact us people as well in the long run. Read more

This proposal is short sighted and reckless. It is ultimately a robbery of future generations. We must not equate checks and balances for barriers, nor carelessness for efficiency.

This is unacceptable! Pushing bills that completely cause ecological destruction and danger to Ontario's flora and fauna will not lead to any fruitful development. Without these natural systems, our entire world will crumble. Read more
