This bill absolutely should not move forward. Environmental protections are in place specifically because we have consistently demonstrated that without them short-term thinking will result in destruction of key habitats, population deline and loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Read more

The proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act (and replacement with the Species Conservation Act) are reckless and will contribute to the ongoing decline of species at risk in Ontario, all in the name of the economy. Read more

The definition of habitat in the proposed act is inadequate as it totally neglects areas needed for animals to feed. Without adequate food for survival and reproduction (and the space to forage for it), preserving den sites etc. can quickly become irrelevant. Read more

This is a horrible idea put forth by Doug Ford. The wild animals need our protection now more than ever. The destruction of green spaces that house endangered species must stop. This act was put into place to protect wildlife for future generations. Read more

I am completely against this bill passing. The government should not give themselves such powers, it's unfair and the negative effects such a bill will be felt for generations to come.

The government should not be able to remove speciece from the protected lists and MUST continue to provide conservation necessary to the endangered and at risk species. The government should be held accountable for violating preservation requirements.

I am against this change to the endangered species act. In these times, we especially need protection for wildlife. There is a reason for this act's initial existence--wildlife is becoming extinct at a harrowing rate. Much more than even 100 years ago. Read more

The proposed changes to legislation protecting species at risk are being made, not to maintain or to enlarge species protection, but to enable the development of projects that the government considers are important for economic development. Read more

This act is crucial to ensuring the protection of endangered species. Without care around this type of infrastructure all other plans will be meaningless as our environment collapses around us.

Dear Mr. Ford, The changes you are proposing to the Endangered Species Act and the laws you are proposing under the new Species Conservation Act will be devastating to wildlife and their habitats, especially for species at risk. Read more

Bill 5 does not only destroy environmental protections, It also destroys the democratic rights of citizens by handing over too much power to the ruling party to override municipal decisions and science.

This is one of the most mind-bogglingly stupid changes the government could possibly make. What rationale could there be to put endangered species at significantly greater risk? Look your kids in the eye and explain this bill to them, please. Stop this madness, nobody elected you to do this. Read more
