Do no trust companies to act in the best interests of the citizens that live in and around these zones where protections would be lifted. We need to make sure we have strong environmental regulations even in economic zones where it would be convenient to avoid or ignore the environment.

I oppose this proposal to make changes to the Endangered Species Act. The Endangered Species Act protects invaluable links to the Ontario environment and ecosystems that support not only the mental well being of Ontarians, but also our physical security in areas like food production. Read more

I oppose Bill 5. There is no situation where expanding economic “opportunities” should risk endangered species lives and this is opposed by many that stand up for environmental protections in Ontario. I will not support this under any circumstances and it should not be passed.

The current approach to protection of species at risk keeps housing, transit, and critical infrastructure from sprawling all over. This is good. Stop destroying our environment. We can't afford it. Build up, not out.

strongly oppose Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation poses a serious threat to Ontario’s natural heritage, democratic processes and Indigenous rights. Read more

The proposed legislation is shamelessly unfit to protect threatened species. Passing it into law would be a disaster for the province, and a win for brazen government collusion with industry.

I oppose this bill in its entirety. I am exhausted. I am so tired of having to submit comments like this, having to send letters and attend rallies, of being ashamed of my government. Read more

This proposal is awful - what a slap in the face to call it 'Protecting Ontario'. This proposal has no plan for protecting the habitats of migratory birds. Protecting only the "Dwelling place" does nothing and is just lip service. Read more

I strongly disagree with this bill. It will encourage corruption. The public will not trust the process of this bill, they will think the Premier and Government Officials are giving away the protected land to their friends. Read more

A number of species in Ontario are currently at risk [1]. Birds, like the golden eagle and the barn owl, are currently endangered; as are fish, such as lake sturgeon, spotted gar and redside dace. Seven (almost all) of Ontario’s species of turtle are at risk [1, 2]. Read more
