I adamantly oppose Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation seriously threatens Ontario’s natural heritage, democratic processes, and Indigenous rights.
Unfortunately, the bill effectively eliminates endangered species legislation in Ontario.

I do NOT support this. There is no economy without an ecosystem. We need to protect our environment. This does not benefit anyone other than making rich people richer.
I do not support the changes to the ESA. The proposal will effectively remove protection to not only SAR species but also their critical habitats. The registry removes any government oversight leading to what I'm assuming to be more of a compliance based approach.

This a giant step back in protecting our lands and our wildlife. Development should not come at a cost to the environment and we should do everything to protect our green spaces. I urge the Ontario government to withdraw Bill-5.

No. No to Bill 5. No to destroying wildlife habitat. Doug ford have done enough of that. Cutting old trees, and making construction happen in the green belt. This is horrifying. This is gonna destroy a whole ecosystem.

Again stop this nonsense and leave our birds and animals and green space alone. There are other ways to accomplish what is needed for infrastructure development…. Your campaign was to not go after these areas and here we are ….
I am opposed to the passage of Bill 5 as I feel it gives too much power to government, developers and corporations, while removing safeguards which are there to protect the public. It was rushed through without sufficient public education, input and debate.
The protection of endangered species is an essential responsibility we all have. Negating this responsibility by saying “it takes too much time” is irresponsible and unacceptable. All species are important part of their ecosystems and are important for evolution.

Wow! This is so scary. Ford is a Fascist!!!!!!!! He makes decisions without regard for the well-being of our world just to line the pockets of himself and his friends. The damage he is going to cause our environment will be disastrous.

Some processes are slow for a reason. I do not support these changes because it threatens our ability to take care in protecting at-risk species, indigenous rights, and our delicate climate.
Please, please do not lessen protections for endangered species. We need more protections not fewer. Every loss to biodiversity takes us closer to a dead zone.
This change in Species-at-Risk (SAR) legislation is extremely damaging. It will allow developers to rush through environmental assessments and destroy SAR habitat in the blink of an eye, without needing the proper permits or approvals. Especially damaging is the change in habitat definition.

Please don't reduce protections for endangered species - environmental conservation is an important objective even at the cost of economic development.
Under absolutely NO circumstances should the government be able to remove an endangered species. There is a committee of independent/non-political members who base decisions on science and evidence.
