I am absolutely against the removal of environmental protections. This is for short term gain and will be horrendous for our province long term. We need to protect our ecosystems that support us.

The Ontario License plate slogan used to be "Keep it Beautiful". What has happened to this mindset? It is shocking that all things that make Ontario special are at risk due to due a select group of wealthy developers. Read more

The Endangered Species Act must not be modified, unless it is to increase the protection capacity of endangered species. Ontario government whining about processes taking too long is shameful and dangerous. There are no excuses for threatening endangered species moreso than they already are. Read more

Existing protections balance the needs of humans and the natural world with better stewardship. They balance the needs of present humans and future humans better. The proposed changes will allow lasting harm to our eventual detriment

Corporations will be able to destroy environments and key habitats because of these changes. Allowing them to immediately begin development before a proper impact study has been conducted is absolutely ridiculous.

The implications of this bill are alarming in many ways. We should all be concerned that this bill allows the government and potential corporations to disregard laws in order to accomplish things. I fear about the impact on our most vulnerable communities. Read more

This new legislation replacing the former Endangered Species Act demonstrates clear prioritization of the economic interests of industry over the protection of species, and political discretion without adequate oversight, transparency or accountability over democratic deliberation and sound science. I vehemently oppose the changes to species at risk protections proposed within the Species Conservation Act. The changes to habitat definitions do not align with scientific data nor the ecology of the animals this act proports to protect. Read more

I oppose bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and less industry shortcuts. I believe that our approach should be "complicated" as described in the proposal summary because it shouldn't be quick or easy to make decisions that impact the future of our planet and the wildlife in Ontario.

Please don't remove the protections that keep our wildlife and environment flourishing. While jobs and buildings are nice, once the trees and plants are gone, there is no way to bring them back. We should study and make sure that we are taking the steps to keep nature around for our kids.
