As a concerned citizen, I oppose this regressive and harmful bill that will speed up the destruction of critical habitat for endangered species, removes basic environmental rights, including rights to be informed and have a say, and fails to respect Indigenous peoples' rights, including those recogn Read more

As an employee of an endangered species conservation organization that has been working in Ontario and has partnered with the provincial governments for 40 years, I want to express my deep concern about Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act. Read more

The proposed changes to the ESA are incredibly short sighted for minimal gain. Canada is renowned for stewardship of its land and this will diminish that reputation greatly. Setting such a poor example on the world stage to treat natural resources this way is embarrassing.

Gutting environmental protections is a wrong-headed approach to building the economy. Decisions that affect not only natural habitats but also the environment as it is experienced by future generations should be science-based. Read more

Doug Ford and his government are shady pieces of garbage. Short term profit for him and his friends at the expense of the province he is supposed to be representing. Unless you are a multimillionaire property developer you know this is going to hurt the future of the ecosystems of Canada. Read more

I am not in favour of the proposed changed to the Endangered Species Act. The new proposal appears to favour faster project development without ensuring that endangered species will survive in Ontario. Read more

I am deeply concerned by the review of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), which has been a gold standard in managing species at risk legislation. The proposed changes will adversely impact the intent of the act and will further erode the protections put in place. Read more

This Bill is absolutely absurd. Our planet is dying and the ones in power seem to be doing everything possible to insure that happens. We need nature and green spaces. Please stop destroying humanity’s future.

Genetic coding and species diversity that spans a history of millions of years far exceeds the shor-sighted gluttony to satisfy a few more years of privilege to materialy benefit those who are already monetarily wealthy. Read more

You will be destroying everything beautiful about living in Ontario. Endangered species mean that there are few left. Once a species is gone it’s gone. People have worked hard in the last 40 years to protect animals and plants. Your legacy will be destruction. Read more

I do NOT support this proposal. We must protect our native species. Bill 5 would give the Premier’s friends special permissions to ignore all provincial and municipal laws, including those that protect our farms, forests, wetlands and endangered wildlife. Read more
