This bill should not be passed. Reducing protections for endangered species is the wrong decision. We need to protect these species and their ecosystems because maintaining biodiversity in Ontario is crucial for maintaining healthy ecosystems and supporting all life on Earth, including humans. These restrictions exist for a reason. Many endangered species are in Ontario and are key parts of our ecosystems. If we remove protections on them, then it could lead to the collapse of our ecosystem and worsen climate change even more than it already is. This threatens our very existence. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed changes to weaken protections for Ontario's Endangered Species. The worst part is redefining "habitat" to a very narrow definition of den/nest/hibernation sites (for plants, just the root area!). Read more

The purpose of government is to ensure the well-being of its citizens. Allowing developers to start construction before the results of environmental studies and permits are in place does not benefit the citizens of Ontario. It will cause irreversible damage to the detriment of Ontarians. Read more

I wrote that extinction is permanent and once a species is added to the endangered species list they're on track to become extinct unless we intervene. We should invest more time into the process because it's so permanent, not less.

I and many other people oppose Bill 5 and the dishonesty of Ford. Our environment needs to be protected and so to our people. It is obvious our government priorities profit over building a sustainable future with integrity. Read more
