The Province should stay in its own lane. Balancing roads and road access is best addressed by municipal government, since they are closest to the scene. The Province has many other problems that it should address; bike lanes are not one of them.

Bike lanes enable more biking, which is healthy, efficient, environmentally-friendly, and makes many many people happier than otherwise. Modern cities around the world have policies and infrastructure that prioritizes bike lanes and safety. Read more

We will not reduce gridlock by facilitating the use of cars. We will not reduce pollution by facilitating the use of cars. I challenge the government of Ontario to provide any evidence that this proposal will have a positive impact on gridlock or any other positive effect on cities. Read more

You should be approving more cycle lanes which intrude upon car lanes, not fewer. Every year more cyclists flood the city and they are entitled to their own, safe lane even if this slows drivers slightly.

Bill 60 needs to be withdrawn. First, we need bike lanes where ever this makes cycling safer, reduces people's reliance on cars, and liberates us from the gridlock that is clogging our streets in larger cities such as Toronto (yes, bicycle lanes reduce gridlock, not the other way around.) I do not support Bill 60. The more people who bike, the less cars we have on the road. Removing bike lanes, or preventing their development, leads to unsafe cities. We need to prioritize people over cars.

While parts of the bill may propose valid proposals for streamlining and fast tracking certain areas, the provisions prohibiting municipalities to makes decisions about bike lanes is NOT good. These decisions should not be centralized. The AMA puts it well: Read more

This proposal is driven by ideology, not science or good public policy. Auto traffic needs to take a back seat to moving human beings, and transportation science has shown that it's not possible to move more people by adding lanes or prioritizing auto traffic. Read more

Shame on this government for introducing this short-sighted legislation. The transportation minister is well aware that prohibiting bike networks from being developed in this province will do NOTHING to ease traffic congestion. Read more

I commute to work daily throughout the year on my bike. Road safety is not just a privilege, it is a fundamental right for all residents of this great province. Stop Bill 60! It will compromise and severely limit the safety of all cyclists and pedestrians.

Any bill such as bill 60 which aloows the government to bypass debate or input from citizens isn’t democratic, and typical of Doug Ford’s government. Nobody is fooled by this. Stop Bill60 from passing into law. Read more

I am 82 and believe me I do not ride a bike, but I do drive a car. I love bike lanes because I know where the bikers actually are if they are in their own lanes. And I drive on Bloor West often and do not find it slower. Read more

This proposal is problematic for many reasons but I will only focus on one point: bike lanes help move people efficiently - much more efficiently than individual cars - while being environmentally friendly, affordable, and sustainable!

I live in central Toronto and drive, cycle, TTC and walk. Have done so for 30+ years. In essence, streets have a physical limit to the number of vehicles that can be reasonably handled - and Toronto is far beyond that. Read more

We need bike lanes! We need options for those who make conscious environmental decisions, we need safety for pedestrians not speed for cars, we need to build a system that works for the biggest population (non car owners) and keep our city affordable in SOME way shape or form.
