I am strongly opposed to Bill 60. I live on Bathurst street and recently there was a proposal to add bus-only priority lanes north of Bloor up to Wilson. This would have effectively resulted in a reduction of motor lanes for cars. Read more

This makes zero sense. There is so much evidence that bike lanes save lives. Delays and gridlock are the result of construction or poorly designed intersections. Let cities decide on how to make their roads safer for cyclists and other non-drivers. This is not a provincial matter. Read more

I am writing to express strong opposition to Bill 60, the Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act. The Bill would prohibit municipalities from reallocating road space for cycling infrastructure and other non-automobile uses. Read more

I am writing to state absolute and categorical opposition to Bill 60. The Bill prohibits municipalities from reallocating roadway space away from cars, even when doing so is necessary for safety, mobility, environmental protection, public health, and fiscal sustainability. Read more

I am asking the government to stop Bill 60. It is the wrong bill at the wrong time, and it is not helping the people of Ontario. This bill will make life harder, not easier. It will make traffic worse, not better. It will make our communities less safe, not more safe. Read more

The only way traffic is going to improve in cities like Toronto where the population is growing is to add more capacity for high-density transportation. Cars are the least efficient use of space by far, with sidewalks, bike lanes, and transit lanes (in that order) being more efficient per user. Read more

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on Bill 60. Before I begin, I genuinely hope the reader has a warm cup of tea nearby. Something calming. Please take a sip and prepare, because what follows is a polite rollercoaster through transportation policy and existential bewilderment. Read more

The conceit that bill 60 will have positive environmental impacts is laughable. Reducing motor vehicle lanes discourages driving in favour of far more environmentally friendly transportation means, such as walking, cycling, and transit. Read more

This proposal goes against multiple data studies that show traffic in cities is improved when installing bike lanes even when it reduces lanes for cars. Read more

When cities across the globe are creating safe spaces for public to walk and bike, we are doing the opposite. If Toronto wants to become a sustainable city and a world class city it needs to be more mindful with the policies we make today. Are leaders are not doing that for us. It’s a shame. Read more

Bill 60 is an escalation of Bill 212’s attack on evidence-based decision making that would prohibit any municipality in Ontario from reducing motor vehicle lanes to build new bike lanes. Read more

I am a nurse in Toronto. I believe that this proposal endangers our progress towards lowering emissions, which is something we are legally bound to do according to the Paris agreement. I am a cyclist. I bike to work and to get groceries and run errands. Read more

The proposals in this omnibus Bill 60 as they pertain to limitation of bike lanes (never mind collateral effects on bus lanes, street-side patios etc) are both anti-environmental and anti-people. Read more

Alternative forms of transportation including public transportation is an essential right and part of any city including Toronto. It prevents traffic build up by getting less cars on the road. Removing bike lanes is a short sighted mentality which will cause more problems in the future. Read more

We live in downtown Toronto and are horrified by the impact that bill 60 would have on moving people around our city. Bike lanes facilitate movement and should be encouraged not denied. Read more

I am writing to voice my opposition to limiting a municipality's ability to remove car lanes in Bill 60. No urban area has succeeded in "fighting delays" by optimizing for cars. Specifically, I'm opposed to: Read more
