This is a bad idea. We are in an era where we need greater environmental protection, not less. That is what this proposal will do. We have to stop handing over important landscapes to developers. It is the road to ruin. Read more

Unbelievable. Another attempt at amalgamation with no benefits to anyone involved except, likely homebuilders. The government downsized public health prior to a pandemic and we saw the negative outcomes of that decision. Read more

I support the HCAs opposition to the proposed change. I believe decisions in regards to HCA conservation areas should stay within the community. Decisions of other conservation authorities should be made by their respective communities. Read more

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. There would also be a large cost for minimal to no identified benefits.

I do not wish to see the individual conservation areas amalgamated. They all have their own unique environmental concerns that should have local management for the ongoing health and safety of those specific areas. Read more

This "regionalization" of Conservation Authorities will take away local decision making and politicize environmental decisions for the benefit of who exactly? This proposed change gives the Provincial Govt. Read more

I do not want the amalgamation of Conservation areas throughout Ontario. The local authorities understand the needs and challenges if their area. An individual or group who is not a part of the community, using the conservation areas, should not be given powers to influence impacts on CAs. Read more

I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. Other mergers, such as municipal amalgamation in the early 2000s were a net negative for the voice of citizens. Read more
