This is a bad idea that will result in municipalities having to take land as "park" that does not function as a park. It will also create a burden on tax payers 100%. Who will pay to repair "parks" when the encumbrances need servicing?

Great idea. Please make changes that prohibit developer - who are already providing parkland - from also being required to fund park improvements. We have a draft plan condition that creates this additional cost and its egregious.

Currently, the Town’s Parkland Dedication Procedure outlines the type of lands that are acceptable to the Town and details the procedural elements of accepting land or payment-in-lieu of land under Parkland Dedication By-law 2024-034.

• The province could consider providing template agreements to municipalities to offset the costs and workload associated with the encumbered lands agreements.
• Staff support excluding hazard lands or contaminated lands in the list of eligible developer-identified parkland dedication.
