We are now proposing to refocus the Act with proposed amendments to provisions that may hinder economic development and enhancing provisions that encourage collaboration with First Nations in the Far North regarding land use planning
We have posted proposed legislative amendments to the Crown Forest Sustainability Act,1994 (CFSA) on Ontario’s Regulatory Registry that, if approved, would enable us to make regulations that would create a more efficient process for the removal of forest resources for non-forestry purposes.

We decided to revoke O. Reg. 274/18 – Siting Restrictions for Renewable Energy Generation Facilities. Since municipal authority over the siting of new renewable energy projects has been restored, this regulation no longer applies to any projects.

Changes were made to O. Reg. 232/18 - Inclusionary Zoning under the Planning Act to place a maximum 25-year period for which inclusionary zoning units must be maintained as affordable, and a 5% cap on the number or floor area of residential units that can be set aside as inclusionary zoning units.
We have exempted certain Crown projects related to provincial parks and conservation reserves from Environmental Assessment Act requirements and approved the Project Evaluation Policy (formerly referred to as the Environmental Impact Assessment Policy) to move projects forward faster without compromising environmental protection.
