We are proceeding with Ontario’s Emissions Performance Standard and complementary reporting amendments to ensure polluters pay their fair share for their greenhouse gas emissions, while also ensuring industry continues to make advances to help Ontario achieve its share of Canada’s 2030 target.
On April 1, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 251/22. The purpose of the Order is to protect environmentally sensitive lands, including provincially significant wetlands, in the Town of Georgina.

We have amended three producer responsibility regulations made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. These changes reduce or remove burden, correct market issues, increase transparency, align administrative and technical provisions between the regulations and remove old provisions.
On January 26, 2024, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 10/24. The City of Toronto and Minister of Health requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
We are proposing updates to the Procedures for the Use of Risk Assessment under Part XV.1 of the Environmental Protection Act document to align it with latest regulatory requirements and best practices related to brownfields risk assessment. We are seeking feedback on the document so we can improve its overall quality and usefulness.
We have approved the three regulated manuals under the Crown Forest Sustainability Act (CFSA). The revisions align with the Sustainable Growth: Ontario’s Forest Sector Strategy and modernize the forest management planning and wood measurement processes while continuing to provide for the sustainability of Ontario’s forests.
On June 9, 2023, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 124/23. The City of Mississauga and Minister of Long-Term Care requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
On March 24, 2023, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed an amendment to the Zoning Order O. Reg. 771/21, made pursuant to clause 47(8) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 54/23.
On March 4, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 159/22 to permit industrial, commercial and park uses on the subject lands. The City of Kingston requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
On April 14, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 345/22. The Minister of Infrastructure requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
On October 22, 2020, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to section 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 595/20 to facilitate the development of housing on lands known municipally as 153-185 Eastern Avenue in the City of Toronto.
We have decided to proceed with regulating compressed air energy storage in porous rock, making administrative changes related to trustees, and making other amendments to reference more current standards for the regulated sector.

We are proceeding with public consultation on a regulatory proposal for the 13 invasive species and watercraft as a carrier of invasive species under the Invasive Species Act, 2015, included in this posting.
We finalized the regulation that will make battery producers environmentally accountable and financially responsible for collecting and managing their products at end-of-life in February 2020. The regulation for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) was finalized in September 2020.

Bill 132, The Better for People, Smarter for Business Act 2019, received Royal Assent on December 10, 2019 and amended the Crown Forest Sustainability Act, the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act and the Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act (LRIA).
Ontario Regulation 102/20 Monitoring of Mercury Near Dams under the LRIA was approved on March 30, 2020.
