The amending regulations to the Building Code, O. Reg. 139/17, was filed on May 17, 2017 and O. Reg. 88/19, was filed on May 2, 2019. The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to Erin Developments Inc. and 2779181 Ontario Inc. to build a residential development that will impact three species of at-risk bats. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects and requires monitoring and reporting.

We have completed our public consultation on the plain language regulatory proposal relating to excess soil management.

We are improving the processes associated with land claim settlement and other agreements with Indigenous communities about land by removing duplication between the Environmental Assessment Act requirements and the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs’ current policies and guidelines.

An amended Environmental Compliance Approval was granted to Minaki on the River Inc. for the existing sewage works to serve the proposed seasonal recreational vehicle sites.

We have issued an Environmental Compliance Approval to Stelco Inc. in Hamilton to permit the receipt and treatment of wastewater from other industrial generators at their existing industrial wastewater treatment facility, which is currently approved to treat wastewater from Stelco's own industrial processes.

The recently passed Moving Ontarians More Safely Act, 2021 (MOMS Act) will help protect people and families by targeting stunt driving and unsafe, high-risk driving as well as to protect vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and highway workers, improve commercial vehicle safety, and strengthen oversight of the towing and storage sectors.

On January 29, 2021, O. Reg. 509/18, made under the Electricity Act, 1998 was amended to add five new products, to revise efficiency standards for televisions to harmonize with Natural Resources Canada, and to delay new standards for liquid-filled distribution transformers by two years.

We have issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 3480-BALRD9 on April 9, 2019, which cancels and replaces Permit to take Water No. 4540-9S2L6Y for Leitrim South Holdings Inc. located in Gloucester, Ontario.

The new Permit to Take Water has an expiry date of December 22, 2024.

We have approved the four regulated manuals under the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. The revisions align with the draft Forest Sector Strategy and reduce burden for the forest industry while continuing to provide for the sustainability of Ontario’s Crown forests.

Approval is granted to amend the site existing waste disposal approval to increase the waste slag and waste acid storage capacity, subject to the submission of additional financial assurance.

Schedule 10 of Bill 66, the proposed Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness Act, 2018, was removed from the Bill following a vote by members of the Standing Committee on General Government.
