The Ministry of Energy and Electrification is proposing to amend regulations under the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 to streamline Ontario Energy Board approvals for pipeline relocations or reconstructions to build housing, transit and other essential infrastructure faster.
On August 16, 2024, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing informed the Township of Perth South that he was refusing their request for a zoning order on lands legally described as Lots 11, 12 and 13 South Boundary Concession.
The ministry completed a review of bulk sample thresholds in order to ensure the thresholds met the balance of a competitive mining sector with environmental protection and sustainability. Changes to the bulk sample thresholds are not required.
We are moving forward with regulatory changes to allow the ministry and drinking water systems to act quickly to help ensure that drinking water in Ontario is protected during an emergency, including by providing systems with temporary staffing options, and operators with temporary relief from training and certification requirements.

The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-21-000022 to White Metal Resources for early exploration activities near Shebandowan.

On November 24, 2017, we amended the energy efficiency regulation with new and enhanced efficiency standards for 12 products. The amendment aligns Ontario’s energy efficiency standards with leading North American jurisdictions, helps reduce the environmental impact of energy use and encourages energy conservation.
