The production of ethanol from starchy agricultural residues was a method employed as an option to waste treatment in the corn and sugar processing industries. It was also used here in Ontario in the paper iindustry as an alternative to biological waste treatment. Lire davantage

Our/DieselCURE's activities in the stored diesel fuel Diagnostics space over the past 24 months has revealed that the currently mandated (O-Reg 217/14) 4% biodiesel content for refiners has resulted in substantially reduced engine reliability/failure for a not-significant number of off-road users of Lire davantage

The proposal to double the ethanol content of gasoline is short sighted in that it fails to address the loss of agricultural land use for food production in favour of fuel production. Lire davantage

Additional increase of ethanol content in gasoline will result in more problems with engines, fuel lines and exhaust systems. In addition, the shelf life of that gasoline is very short forcing us to add extra stabilizers which are toxic for the environment. Lire davantage

Is there really a significant reduction in overall carbon emissions from adding ethanol to fuel. I am aware of studies that actually show that adding ethonal to fuel results in a net increase in carbon emissions. Lire davantage

Raising the ethanol content of automotive gasoline is a sure sign that we are letting un-educated yet desperate people make decisions which effect us all. Lire davantage

Please consider having at least one premium blend that would be ethanol free . The ethanol does damage to some of the outboard engines and built in fuel tanks and fittings in the marine industry . Lire davantage

It seems that as the rest of the world is moving away from ethanol mixes Ontario has, in its wisdom, decided to mandate an increase in ethanol levels in the "gas" we burn. Its hard from this side to see any environmental advantage. Lire davantage

I feel the disadvantages of adding ethanol to fuel far outweigh the advantages. Increased production of grain/ corn has typically led to chemicals in seeds to produce higher yield crops - leading to declining bee population. (Bee dimentia). Bees are the Canary in the mine so to speak. Lire davantage

The only thing this will do is raise the cost of fuel which is already out of control. I am opposed to this 10% change. [Original Comment ID: 211615]

Ethanol gas contains less energy and requires a richer fuel mixture than non ethanol gas and will cause all cars and trucks to consume more fuel. This will also drive up the price of food due to the use of corn crops for non food production. Lire davantage

I'm an owner of 2 antique cars that are fitted with natural rubber fuel supply parts. Thanks to the present "may contain up to 10%" ethanol regulations, for regular octane fuel, these parts have failed. Lire davantage

I wish to register my opposition to this proposal to make 10% ethanol a madatry feature of all low grade gasolines in Ontario. As antique car owner I have painfully discovered that ethanol does not sit well with older vehicles. It can cause no end of problems in the fuel systems. Lire davantage

As a certified Automotive and Heavy truck technician I have a number of concerns with the use of ethanol in motor vehicle fuels. I have seen first hand the damage that ethanol causes on older vehicles, particularly those which still use carburetors. Lire davantage
