I do not support the proposed Repeal of the Toxics Reduction Act as it will eliminate the requirement of companies to report on all of the toxic materials that they use, as well as a plan for reduction or elimination.

I am a biology researcher from McMaster University, Hamilton. I have shown the impacts of air pollution on mice and birds. In past decades, prior to some of our current toxic substance regulations, colonial nesting birds with teratogenic deformities were very common in the harbour. Lire davantage

I am writing to express my strong opposition to Schedule 5 of Bill 66. For myself as well as for my 4 children (and their children's children...) The position of this government that repealing the TRA eliminates unnecessary duplication of laws is FALSE   Lire davantage

The proposal suggests that the Ontario plan is not needed because there is a federal plan covering the same substances however I note that the federal plan was started in 2006, three years before the Ontario legislation. Lire davantage

The Toxics Reduction Act is different from the Federal Chemicals Management Plan, and it would be very dangerous to repeal this.

I do not agree that this provision duplicates federal legislation. Rather, it reduces the accountability of industries and businesses in this province which are releasing toxic substances despite the fact that Ontario' emissions to air, land, and water are some of the highest in North America. This is not a long term solution and leaves Ontarians vulnerable to foreign interests. There is a common economic pattern that shows the investments we make today to protect our natural resources/habitats have some of the best "returns" to our society that we can hope for. Lire davantage
