Please don't remove areas from the greenbelt! New housing should be built as high-density condos rather than sprawling suburbs. This makes public transit more feasible, which in turn helps reduce congestion and makes the city more liveable. Lire davantage

This seems incredibly environmentally unfriendly for a country that already focuses far too much on car-based infrastructure. Not to mention how unfeasible it is for anyone to buy a house. Lire davantage

We need the green belt and things like wetlands for things like flood management and the maintenance of endangered species of animals in Ontario. Houses can be built anywhere else, and there is no reason to take away our green belt to build homes. Lire davantage

I oppose any removal of land from the Greenbelt. It should be permanent, one land speculators know that it can be chipped away at, greenbelt land starts being purchased by speculators who push the government to release more land, which causes more speculation... etc. in a vicious cycle. The solution to our housing crisis is NOT to build more houses on precious protected land. I’m fact, we have plenty of condo developments happening in Toronto (against our will) that are too expensive for people to afford otherwise they would be filled no problem. Lire davantage

We don’t need more high priced, sprawling suburbs - we need high density affordable housing in close proximity to transit and amenities. The proposed changes will not help the housing crisis and I stand in opposition to them.

The Greenbelt is the world's largest area of protected land. The plan to build housing on it is extremely short sighted and overlooks how increasingly rare natural spaces are in this world. Lire davantage

As a young adult living in the GTA, I am deeply concerned that this will not help to the housing crisis in Ontario for my generation. Instead, we are sacrificing precious protected land in the Greenbelt. We require denser communities , better public transportation and affordable rents/housing. Lire davantage

The proposal to cut down greenbelt for the housing is a harmful solution. what happens to all the farms that operate under that area? Won't this mean more food inflation? Lire davantage

This is a very, very bad plan. The greenbelt is supposed to be protected land and it should not be legal for Doug Ford and his friends to profit from selling it off. Lire davantage

No. Wrong for the green belt. Wrong for housing. The housing crisis is not caused by a lack of land by rather by the wrong type of housing in the wrong places. (Houses too large and overpriced. Lack of intensity. No services.)

Instead of developing land that already has a purpose, that is being necessary green space in the province, you could focus on improving already existing urban areas, making them more affordable and attractive to the immigrent population you claim this new development would be for. Lire davantage

Ontario has plenty of land to build houses on and destroying the green belt has generational consequences. Change the zoning to allow more dwellings on rural property and allow high density building

The amendment of the Greenbelt to build new houses is the wrong direction to take to tackle a housing crisis. We need more density, not more land taken up by single family homes. Lire davantage
