Please save the Black Ash Trees and declare them an endangered species. Please stop reducing the Green Belt. Stop allowing developers and loggers to destroy trees, and stop blaming animals like beavers and deer for ash tree loss.

I strongly support the decision to provide habitat protections for the Black Ash. I agree that the large natural range of Black Ash makes it challenge to protect when most of its range is not affected by EAB.

We at TULLOCH Environmental are pleased to see the proposal of an informed and reasonable approach to Black Ash management. As Ecologists and Environmental Professionals, we work with landowners, municipalities, and industry at sites across Ontario.

I do not understand the delay. We know climate change is accelerating. We know how the emerald ash borer has spread. We know what’s going to happen. Governments have consistently played catchup with regards to environmental concerns for the last 70 years at least.

I oppose the exemptions for the protection of Black Ash. The major remaining habitat for this endangered tree is north of the proposed area of protections.

I recommend that the exemption not apply to the Silver Creek Provincially Significant Coastal Wetland in the Town of Collingwood and The Town of The Blue Mountains. There are numerous Black Ash trees in the Wetland.

If this proposed regulation to protect Black Ash trees is passed, it must include an exemption for removing, clearing or trimming these trees on or around Municipal Drains, constructed and maintained under the Ontario Drainage Act.

GreenFirst Forest Products (GFFP) supports the Gov't proposal to set-out a new conditional exemption for Black Ash until a new proposed regulatory approach can be implemented. That includes extending the exemption to Jan 2025 if necessary.
