I have always been concerned about the use of snares and traps as I find them completely inhumane. I certainly wish them to be banned, but at the very least we need to see all research supporting these proposed changes.

This snare trap issue is upsetting. There is no information given for the changes, and we already have a problem with animals dying horribly. I would like more information, not less.

It's ironic to me that as the Conservatives pave over more of our farmland/wetlands/animal habitats, that they are considering allowing these types of snares to prevent wolves and coyotes (whose habitats are being destroyed) from eating farm animals (It's likely, of course, that they are also thinki Lire davantage

I am ashamed that Canada still uses snares, leghold traps. this isn't the 1800s, and we should be much more progressive. please ban all such traps and stop supporting the sadistic fur industry. please protect nature, wildlife, etc, instead of kill it and make it suffer.

I think that the Ontario government should ban snares entirely, as they are cruel and they are also indiscriminate, threatening the welfare of targeted and non-targeted animals alike. Lire davantage

Why are we still trapping and abusing animals in this day and age??? I've been filling in these forms since I came to Canada when I was 19 yrs old. Now I'm 77 years old, and very little has changed. I'm still filling in these forms. Can't you see the inhumanity involved in these kills? Lire davantage

Many countries around the world have banned snares entirely and it’s time for the province to end the use of these devices in Ontario as well. Farmers should be encouraged to use non-lethal, predator friendly farming methods instead of trapping wildlife.

Relaxing cable restraints are not certified traps under the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards, which Canada is a party to. Please have some compassion for our wildlife and stop this horrific practice. I would only hope you could experience this pain at one time to actually deal with reality. Please respect our wildlife!

Snares are inhumane and should be banned outright. Replace with a cage to catch the animal. Limit the suffering to any animal and introduce methods which provide less stress and impact to the animal. Thank you for your consideration.

Killing and restraining snares should not be used to trap wildlife in Ontario as research has shown that they result in negative animal welfare outcomes for both target and non-target animals. Lire davantage

I would like to see an end to trapping. See #3 and #4and #5. But here are some pertinent points on this sad issue: 1.The province needs to publish the research findings it references on the ERO page so that the public can make informed comments on this consultation. Lire davantage

Snares should not be used for tapping. Animals can be left there for days to suffer and fall prey to other animals. Domestic pets, such as dogs and cats are also trapped.

Laws around trapping need to prioritize animal welfare and should be informed by current, peer-reviewed science, not guidelines created by the commercial fur industry. Lire davantage

I’m writing to contest the latest changes to regulations regarding snares. Amy changes to the legislation should include input from animal welfare advocates and veterinary experts, not those within the trapping industry. Lire davantage
