Killing and restraining snares should not be used to trap wildlife in Ontario as research has shown that they result in negative animal welfare outcomes for both target and non-target animals. Lire davantage

Laws around trapping need to prioritize animal welfare and should be informed by current, peer-reviewed science, not guidelines created by the commercial fur industry. Animals need to be treated humanely and not be subjected to cruelty, suffering and other abhorrent conduct.

What specific research are you using to justify this?! It’s interesting to me that since Doug Ford’s election all kinds of hideous, cruel changes are being made. Is he in the pocket of the hunter/trapper lobby as well as developers?! Politicians need to be audited yearly, so sick of this. Lire davantage

Snares cause significant suffering in target and non target animals. Ontario should follow much of the world in banning these cruel traps. Lire davantage

The Ontario government, by wanting to reduce the loop size of snares, is putting more torture on the fur industry beings. We do not need fur. There are plenty of faux fur choices, which look no different. Only those who are vain, wear fur. Lire davantage

The province should disclose research findings on the ERO page for public consultation. Animal welfare should be prioritized in trapping laws, based on current science, not industry guidelines. Lire davantage

I am completely appalled that snares are legal in Ontario. It's time for Ontario to BAN such cruel devices, not amend their use or design, and follow the lead of other progressive countries. There is no reason to have snares. Fur is OUT! Lire davantage

Ontario is going backwards in environmental protection, biodiversity loss and animal protection. CANADIANS want more humanity , NOT LESS. Canadians want to move into 21st century concerns and issues that take us forward in protecting our Natural Assets and humane wildlife protection. Lire davantage

Hi, I am writing to oppose this. We must put and to the mentality that all creatures are here for our use and in fact I did suggest controlling human population. Please put an end this cruel and inhumane torture.

Please don't do this!! These traps are already bad enough, but these guidelines just make them worse. Killing wildlife like this is unreasonable, unnecessary and unacceptable. Lire davantage

I am totally against trapping as a means to kill wildlife. It is completely barbaric and not a Canadian thing to do. It is a long and inhumane and miserable way for any animal to die. Lire davantage
