Species at Risk in Ontario are already facing numerous challenges and are declining at unprecedented rates. These proposed changes, both the registration first process and changes to habitat definition, could have significant impacts on species persistence in our province. Lire davantage

I oppose Bill 5. It's a complete disservice to environmental protections that are extremely important to our province. Do not pass this. Lire davantage

This legislation would have dire consequences for Ontarios wildlife and, undoubtedly in time, First Nations and rural communities who are so disproportionately affected by extractive industry and extreme development. Lire davantage

This is reprehensible. Please protect our most vulnerable species and all natural habitats. Without healthy, thriving ecosystems, humans will not flourish, either. Lire davantage

This is a significant step backwards for bird conservation in the province. The change would end provincial legal habitat protection for endangered and threatened birds. Lire davantage

When will we ever learn? As species numbers and overall biodiversity continue to decline due to human activity, the Endangered Species need protection now more than ever. Reducing or eliminating the Endangered Species Act would be an act of insanity and self destruction. Lire davantage

This is obtuse. We should be protecting our animals, especially those at risk for extinction, as much as possible. To think that we would rid ourselves of this policy to make ruining our countryside and forest easier is insane.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Protecting the land we share with wildlife must come first. Registration process does not protect vulnerable wildlife. It's similar to asking for forgiveness instead of permission. Lire davantage

The Endangered Species Act is supposed to be considered in detail, even if it takes longer than developers would like. That is the purpose of the Act, to seriously evaluate the importance of losing even more endangered species as a result of human intervention in their habitat! Lire davantage

We are soon going to ruin all the nature we have left. These animals need this protection and it should not be taken away from them. We are here for only a small amount of time, what we leave behind will ruin the generations to come. Lire davantage

This means birds, turtles, and other at-risk wildlife could lose the forests, wetlands, and grasslands they need to survive. Lire davantage

This proposed act makes me very sad. I am worried for our children’s future and what our planet will look and feel like. Why would we not want to protect all species? Why aren’t all species valued? Why can’t we build infrastructure that is supportive of other species and not destructive? Lire davantage

This is unacceptable. Climate change is real, and not protecting our natural habitats and wild life is going to speed up the process. It is absolutely the government responsibility to ensure wildlife stays safe and protected. We cannnot reduce the laws to mere suggestions. Lire davantage

Lengthy processes allow for adequate understanding of complexities surrounding species at risk and the environmental impacts that construction may have. I don’t think that decreasing protections to favour infrastructure is worth the negative impact our species will take on as a result.
