I strongly oppose the proposed amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act and the Historical Parks Act that would facilitate the Town of Wasaga Beach’s Tourism Enhancement Proposal. Public land, especially protected areas, must not be sacrificed for private development. These parks exist to conserve nature, safeguard biodiversity, and ensure that future generations have access to wild, undeveloped spaces. It is the government’s duty to uphold environmental protection—not to rewrite laws to pave the way for short-term commercial interests. Once public land is sold and natural habitats are lost, they are gone forever. This proposal represents a dangerous precedent that puts profit ahead of ecological responsibility.

Public land should stay public.
