1. This will totally set a precedent for all parkland to be sold - welcome to the 51st state?
2. Just because it’s sold to a developer doesn’t mean it will be GOOD development - look at lots of waterfront towns in Ontario that have been developed badly - Wasaga Beach included!
3. How was the price set - and in what way is $38million even close to the true value for the land? What will the town get in return? What will be the conditions for the sale? Look at all the housing developments in Ontario where developers can opt out of create playgrounds and services
4. Who is buying the land for this bargain price and how close are they to those in power?
5. How will the piping plovers be protected - look at what happened in Sauble Beach when tourism trumped environmental concerns ?
