This bill proposes to remove the security of tenure, impact the ability to support active transit options in Ontario and remove the climate change initiatives that have real long term implications for Ontarians.

This government is so focused on municipal issues it is absurd. As a long-term renter (professionally employed with dual incomes, highly educated millennials) rental is the ONLY option for myself and many others my age and younger. Security of tenure is a right under current legislation and it is absolutely unacceptable that the government would take a right to security, it makes no sense as the facts of unlocking 100,000s of units will never happen; the units are not there! I understand there are challenges that landlords AND tenants face collectively, but there simply must be a better approach that is socially rather than economically focused. I vehemently oppose the proposed amendments that would severely impact my ability to secure long-term rental housing. Again, I am happy to pay the annual increase set by the government but having a landlord raise rent on a whim without any control or security of tenure does not reflect how younger Ontarians and Canadians are living these days. Why are we treated as second class citizens? EU countries have MAJORITY populations that rent in many cities!

Further, the Green Roof Policy under the City of Toronto's Green Roof Bylaw is world leading and has had real impacts to improve climate resilience and ecological biodiversity in our city. I understand there is a cost to this; but again, the government focuses on the short-term economic lens rather than a collective approach that encompasses social and the environmental considerations which are the three pillars to sustainability.

And finally, another short sighted approach to impacting vulnerable road users with the focus on bike lanes. Doug is not the Mayor of Ontario nor is this government and it continues to meddle in municipal politics where our health and education systems continue to lag further and further behind.

I trust this provides informative feedback from a member of the general population and trust this is considered just as much as Doug's developer friends' feedback.
