I live in a community where a wind turbine project was proposed about10 years ago. The local Municipality held education meetings for the public on the advantages and disadvantages of hosting a wind turbine project in the community. A plebiscite was held on the issue.

The proposed regulation would:
Establish the transition rules for grandfathering existing renewable energy projects, as these projects may not comply with municipal planning documents and would require regulatory protection to continue

It will take time for municipalities to properly develop Official Plans that include wind turbines and solar projects. In the interim any project should require more than just that it does not contravene existing zoning by-laws.

I do NOT agree with the proposed plan to "transition" or "grandfather" HARM to residents. It would be similar to allowing an abuser to continue to harm current victims with the condition they not to harm additional people. It is unethical and immoral to "grandfather" HARM.

If the province is interested in green energy that is actually green, our municipality would be happy to sit down with you to discuss the possibility of using the landfill methane gas that is currently being flared off of our Waste Management facility Twin Creeks Landfill.
