I am very concerned about the unprecedented powers this law would give to Cabinet to designate "special economic zones", exempting any area, project or proponent from all existing provincial and municipal laws and regulations. This is undemocratic and a threat to the rule of law. Lire davantage

I am opposed to the proposed Economic Zones Act, as environmental protection should not be sacrificed for the sake of the economy. There will be no economy to worry about once the environment has been decimated by projects enabled through an abbreviated process. Lire davantage

This legislation is very vague. It favours economic outcomes over all other matters; rather than maintain a balance of public interests. Without seeing complimentary regulations, the passing of this legislation is extraordinarily undemocratic.

This bill should not move forward. It is not in the interest of all living, working and residing in Ontario. We need to work to protect the species that call this province home over the interest of businesses to make profit.

This needs to be regulated and still managed. All projects should still have to go through environmental impact planning and adhere to all relevant laws. This should NOT provide blanket authority to develop anywhere regardless of zoning laws etc. Lire davantage

The language of this Special Economic Zones Act gives too much power to provincial cabinet allowing the creation of zones anywhere and at any time. The minister can designate "trusted proponents" -- what is the definition of this term? Also "designated projects" - again, definition? Lire davantage

Please don’t do this. The processes are there for a reason. Experts in their field should be making decisions. Projects should go through the proper channels. The people don’t trust the government enough for this because their trust has been violated even with these processes in place.
