I am very concerned about this proposal for the following reasons: Create Special Economic Zones where it is unclear what laws, regulations or instruments will apply. It empowers the government to create Special Economic Zones where any provincial laws and municipal by-laws can be suspended. Lire davantage

I am opposed to the special economic zones Act. I agree that Ontario should be self sufficient and look at ways to increase proficiency however when we are looking at removing assessments to evaluate the harm to the residents of Ontario that is irresponsible. Lire davantage

Trying to create legislation that would give cabinet power to create “special economic zones”, and speed up development in zones like the Ring of Fire without indigenous consultation and consent is very concerning and goes against the duty to consult, as set out in section 35 of the constitution, an Lire davantage

Given the growing impacts of climate change, acts that allow unfettered development such as this one are the last thing Canada needs to bolster resiliency. We are already far off track for meeting 2030 sustainability goals - acts such as this will make these commitments even harder to meet.

Removing environmental protections will have devastating, irreversible consequences to this province. The “ideals” of Doug Ford and his government are following very closely to those of our neighbour’s to the south, terrifyingly close. Lire davantage

Defending Canada’s sovereignty from the U.S. is more than just making us economically independent from the U.S.. It also rejects the idea that government red tape is an impediment to the economy as a excuse to gut laws meant to protect the things that we love and need. Lire davantage

Another terrible idea by this Premier. The environment needs to REMAIN protected. There’s zero reason to eliminate the endangered species act. It’s a horrible idea with even worse consequences. Figure out another avenue because destroying habitats IS NOT IT. I already deeply regret voting for Ford. Lire davantage
