This is a terrible bill. It is outrageous and undemocratic that any place can be designated a "special economic zone". So obviously designed to circumvent our already weak environmental laws. Shameful.

As a tax-paying Ontario resident, outdoor enthusiast, and father of two, I strongly oppose the proposed amendments to the Endangered Species Act. The existing legislation is already sufficient and science-based. Read more

Disaster. Bill 5 is the latest assault on Ontario's environment and continues the premier's sole legacy- that of destroying the already weak legal protections for Ontario's environment. Read more

I, as a citizen of Ontario, oppose Bill 5. I want strong environmental protections for endangered species. I oppose short cuts for industry with no public oversight. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones. Read more

The proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act are deplorable. These changes clearly favour developers and profits over the environment. I do not want to see the nests of endangered birds and turtles bulldozed. Read more

I do not support bill 5! I am raised and born in Southern Ontario and I know we are more economically strong and prosperous when we do not ignore our incredible biodiversity and endamgered species.

Our natural environment is the most important thing that we have and need to protect. If we do not protect endangered species, they will become extinct. I fail to understand how this is not a priority for our government. Read more

We are in the middle of a biodiversity crisis, with species declining at an alarming rate. This decline is largely driven by human activities that include habitat destruction, pollution and climate change. We need to be increasing the methods that support habitat recovery, not reducing them. Read more

The proposed changes to the ESA would put endangered species at risk. The Blanding's Turtle- my favourite turtle- for example, would be severely impacted by the habitat loss these changes would incur. Read more

Dougie, you are my man but please take our environment and wildlife areas more seriously. Improve the endargered species act, don't get rid of it. Protect the wetlands, don't pave over them. Clean the water ways, don't use them as a place for dumping. Read more

With the increase in development in the city of Toronto and in Ontario in general, we need MORE protection for the wildlife we share our province with, not less. This bill is a blatant attempt to make it easier to continue destroying wildlife habitats and harming wildlife. Read more

What a disgrace. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for even considering such a heinous act, or even calling yourselves a sovereign democratic society. Good luck with it all.

I am very alarmed that this bill is only to make it easier to destroy ecosystems. Ontario is a beautiful province, and taking shortcuts for the benefit of a few. I do not wish to see the destruction of our environment that will undoubtedly hurt us all in the long term. Read more
