This is a monumentally bad idea. A blatant land grab. There are real and valid reason why the endangered species act exist. You should be strengthening it, not gutting it.
It very simply appears that Doug Ford and his government have lost all their common sense when it comes to protecting our wildlife and environment by introducing the current Bill 5 legislation. Once you have destroyed the environment, you can't bring it back. DOUG FORD JUST STOP NOW.
Conservative governments are typically really good at conserving land, and it is shocking that this conservative government isn’t doing that. This bill will have huge impacts that can’t be reversed - please please don’t do this for our future!
To whom this may concern,
I am writing you on Endangered species day, asking you to consider the destruction these blanket changes will wreak on species at risk (SAR) in Ontario. No one project, company, or organization should have blanket authority to destroy habitat without recourse.

This is a short-sighted band-aid solution that only serves to hurt Canada in the long term. Making it easier to bulldoze significant habitat for endangered species will not bring my rent down. Do not pass this.
Dear Premier Ford,
I am writing as a concerned citizen of Ontario to express my deep opposition to any proposals that would weaken or dismantle the Endangered Species Act.

The proposed Bill 5 represents a departure from scientifically grounded environmental protection and compromises the delicate balance of our natural ecosystems.

Our futures depend on decisions that respect the land, the people, and the public good. This legislation does not respect our future nor does it promote sustainable economic growth for all.
Nature does not belong to us & is not here for our exploitation, instead, we are called on to protect it. Future generations depend on our diligence.
It is essential that we don't go backwards in this endeavour.

Please, Please, Please - I urge the Government of Ontario to repeal Bill 5 in its entirety and commit to:
Upholding science-based protections for endangered species and their habitats.
Protecting farmland as a vital ecological and economic resource.

Protecting species without protecting the surrounding habitat they depend on to survive will greatly put Ontario's most at-risk species a further risk. Habitats are not limited to “dwelling places” or nests and their immediate surroundings.

The proposed bill, insofar as it displays a ruthless indifference to environmental factors which determine the longterm quality of life for the people of Ontario is very much AGAINST the interest of the people of this province and should not proceed.

Bill 5 undermines Indigenous governance, sovereignty and principles of reconciliation. The fact that this bill is even being proposed actively affirms what we all know; the Ford government is perpetuating colonialism by using settler legal principles to wield unchecked power.

This proposal is incredibly dangerous to the wellbeing of Species At Risk in Ontario. The only thing this Bill would do is help to destroy what little we have left of our Mother Earth.
