I am writing to strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act and its dangerous proposals, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, the weakening of Ontario’s endangered species protections, and the exemption of the Eagle’s Nest mine from an environmental review. I strongly oppose Bill 5. The proposed change weakens critical safeguards for our ecosystems. It prioritizes industrial interests over environmental health. Biodiversity loss will accelerate without strict protections. Read more

I am very much opposed to the changes to the Endangered Species Act 2007. Continued destruction of natural resources is NOT the answer for moving forward. It is continued colonization of this land, and absolutely against Truth and Reconciliation.

This is basically gutting protections for endangered species. It has nothing to do with protection and everything to do with development at all costs. You have no mandate to do this. The people of Ontario did not vote for this. Outrageous!

The Endangered Species Act is a crucial part of protecting endangered species in Canada. Bill 5 directly threatens the act's goals by removing conservation areas which house these endangered species, fast tracking their extinction. Read more

PLEASE conserve wildlife. The destruction of endangered species and natural diversity will have terrible effects for us all. Conserve the Endangered Species Act- this is not optional.

Giving politicians the power to choose which species will be protected is absurd! These laws were put into place in the 70's and are there to protect our planetary health. Bill 5 makes a mockery of 50+ years of protections. Read more

We have so little “natural” environment left to protect us from irreversible climate disaster. Don’t sign away what needs to be protected. Safeguard the future of our people over your greed, please.

Stop Bill 5! Our irreplaceable natural environment was already under threat. It already takes too long for endangered species to be recognized and protected resulting in untold losses. Read more

I strongly oppose bill 5. There should be no exceptions for considering the endangered species act. Under no circumstances should there be special economic zones! We are all guests on this earth and we should treat it with respect. All animals are worthy of consideration.
