This is a terrible idea. Stop pretending that we don't all rely on diverse natural systems to continue living. We do need some restrictions on destructive human activity, and it is the government's job to protect the commons and improve it for future generations. Read more

This does NOT seem like a sound revision. This act proposes to solve issues short term at the expense of greater and important ecological considerations. I even appreciate the current government and some of what's been done by the leadership, but this is NOT appreciated and extremely short sighted. Read more

The decision to eliminate public consultation in development planning is undemocratic. Bill 5 gives developers extraordinary powers while stripping communities of their voice. This is a fundamental betrayal of the public trust and weakens transparency and accountability in Ontario governance. Read more

If Ontario is serious about fighting climate change, it cannot repeal the Endangered Species Act and weaken environmental oversight. Ecosystem health is directly linked to climate mitigation and adaptation. Bill 5 will lead to more emissions, less resilience, and broken international commitments. Read more

"causes unnecessary delays and costs for housing, transit, and critical infrastructure." Ah yes, and so we propose a bill that will bypass all of this. Stop and think about why we have legislation to begin with. Read more

As a small business owner, I care about the health of our community and the local environment that makes Ontario livable. Bill 5 favours big developers with deep pockets, not the small businesses and families who rely on clean air, access to nature, and responsible planning. Read more

At its core, Bill 5 asks us to trade irreplaceable biodiversity for private profit. That is an immoral bargain. Every species lost is a loss to our collective heritage, to future generations, and to the balance of life on this land. No economy can survive on a dying planet. Read more

As currently written, Bill 5 effectively dismantles any meaningful protection for at-risk species in Ontario. Even more troubling is the bill’s allowance for political interference in the work of the independent scientific committee that determines which species are at risk. Read more

As a grassroots, environmental activist and Indigenous ally, I strongly oppose this legislation and I'm appalled that a Government of Ontario, supposedly acting in the best interests of its constituents, would suggest that Bill 5 is the best way to protect Ontario’s economy. Read more

This is blatant disregard for future generations and the health of Ontario. The destruction of habitats and pushing endangered species closer to extinction threatens the health of Canadians by the impact it has. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed amendments to the Endangered Species Act (ESA) under the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025. While streamlining processes may benefit developers and industry, doing so at the cost of meaningful species protection is unacceptable. Read more
