I am alarmed by this proposal to prioritise the economy and human activity. Humans cannot survive without pollinators and healthy ecosystems. The shifting towards 'voluntary' will likely result in an even more alarming decline in all sorts of species.

This proposal is grossly irresponsible and will lead to the decline of Ontario’s natural environment. The definitions included in the proposal are not based on any scientific research. To define habitat as simply the dwelling of an individual misrepresents to use of the environment by species.

I am opposed to Bill 5. It places much too much power in the hands of the minister. There will be numerous conflicts of interest and many opportunities for corruption. It will not take many ministerial actions before the public views the system and the government as corrupt.

This bill is extremely concerning. Don't pass it. Focus on building middle housing in already urbanized or suburban areas instead, to minimize the impact on wildlife.
I am both horrified and dismayed that this bill is being proposed. Nature and wildlife face serious challenges to their survival every day due to humans destroying their habitat, evicting them from places where they have tried to find refuge, and from vehicles driven carelessly by humans.

As a student graduating with a degree in biology and a specialization in conservation, I feel it is imperative to protect these species. When species begin to exit an ecosystem as a result of human disturbance it causes a shift in the eco system that is difficult if not impossible to ameliorate.

We must keep current regulations in place. These protections are what keep our communities flourishing and support tourism. We need to protect our natural world and the animals making it their home.
I oppose Bill 5. I want Indigenous peoples to be consulted and to be leading in the discussions of this proposal. I want strong protections in place to keep endangered species safe and for any land to be preserved against opportunistic businesses.

Why would we not have scientists determine the risk? Cabinet ministers by default have their constituents interest as primary concerns( and getting reelected) . They have not the time or experince to make this call. Please keep scientist involved to save our wildlands
The current framework and approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk is complicated. This statement is true, because species at risk and there conservation is complicated. These species face daily and yearly challenges due to development and urban expansion.
