The SEZ Act as proposed is unacceptable. Enabling the Premier and cabinet to suspend the laws of the land, found in the form of provincial regulations and municipal bylaws, at will and behind closed doors runs counter to my understanding of democracy. Read more

I do not support Bill 5 and request that it be stopped for the following reasons: 1. We need to protect our endangered species not further their endangerment and extinction with this bill. 2. This bill does not recognize the rights of our indigenous peoples and their communities. Read more

I oppose bill 5, as should we all. This is not the way to advance our economy and only furthers our decline. We need new innovative ways to expand on the strengths we currently have as a province. We need to build upward and not outward, we need to better utilize the space we have. Read more

This bill lacks any scientific foundation. It goes against everything we know about the ecology of sensitive species and will surely lead to untold biodiversity loss. Economic development must happen in concert with environmental protections; anything else is short sighted and unsustainable. Read more

I am commenting here on the entirety of Bill 5: the "protect Ontario by unleashing our economy Act". The very title is alarming. To unleash something is to abandon control of something powerful - and to make decisions based purely on economic metrics is fool's gold. Read more
