As both an Indigenous citizen and a business owner, I extremely oppose Bill 5 and the overreach of power it grants ministers. The most concerning aspect of this bill is the exemptions to the law from the Special Economic Zones Act. To remove the duty to consult is a step backward. Read more

This is a catastrophic move. As our natural spaces are being destroyed by human caused climate change, we need to be increasing our support of endangered species and green spaces, not trying to accelerate this ecological emergency as Bill 5 will do. Read more

The response to tariffs put in place by the United States government (or any other government) should not include removing environmental protection in any area “large” or “small”. Under that vague description, could the entire province be declared a special economic zone? Read more

I am strongly against this proposal. The Ontario Government should not be using the trade war as an excuse to weaken environmental protections in the province. We need stronger environmental protections - no project should be fast tracked at the expense of the environment. Read more
