Makes 0 sense for Provincialy maintained park land to be taken over by Wasaga Beach. This should remain under Provincial control to protect it for all Ontarians.

Please listen to conservationists who specialize in care for endangered species. We need to recognize and protect the Piping Plover. As an endangered species the province should not lose control over this habitat. Piping Plovers need all protection available. Read more

I am writing in strong opposition to the Ontario government's proposal to sell key parts of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to the Town of Wasaga Beach for the sake of re-development. More and more, the voice of developers is effectively blocking out the voice of reason. Read more

Piping plovers, an endangered bird that nests on Wasaga Beach, will be impacted by development. Furthermore, the beach should remain public for everyone to enjoy.

I’m appalled at the attempt to privatize the longest freshwater beach in the world. There is very little public access already to the lakefront, after Covid it’s all been converted to pay parking or no parking. Allowing the town to take over will add more pay parking and less access. Read more

Our public parks are not for sale. The endangered piping plover habitat is not for sale. We need affordable housing, not mansions on waterfront for the 1% -cronyism.

Hello. My family has owned a cottage in Wasaga Beach for 65 years so we have seen a lot of changes. I have read as much information on this proposal as I can find including the letter from the mayor. I was very curious what the towns position was so the letter was very informative. Read more

I feel that it is important to not make these changes to the Wasaga beach area. It is more important to protect the environment than it is to increase tourism. Increased tourism will have a negative impact on the surrounding environment. Read more

Piping plovers and Wasaga beach in general deserve the legal protection and conservation efforts Ontario Parks have given them. Under their management, the piping plovers (an endangered species) has begun to make a recovery in Ontario with hosting 57 nests and raising 87 fledglings. Read more

There is no reason to not include environmental protection for the Piping Plover in the exchange of Wasaga Beach deal. Do the right thing and ensure this species will be protected for many years to come as Wasaga beach changes from provincially owned to privately owned. Read more
