I strongly urge the Ontario government to reject any proposals to develop protected land in Wasaga Beach, particularly areas that serve as critical nesting grounds for the endangered piping plover. Read more

This proposed changed is absolutely shameful and should not be approved. As Tim Gray says “Provincial Parks belong to the people of Ontario and are meant to be protected forever. Read more

I do not support transferring Wasaga Beach from MECP to MTCG. My partner's family has a cottage at Wasaga beach, and we've been going there for a number of years, including living out there full time during the covid lockdowns. Read more

I am opposed to this proposal - it puts wildlife at risk and is counterproductive to Canada’s commitment to climate action and wildlife protection.

This amendment is going to severely harm Piping Plover habitat and should be reconsidered. This is the largest and most productive nesting spot in the province for them! It would be a huge shame and a terrible example to destroy that.

This is another developer driven selloff of our precious public natural areas. We must, for current and future generations, preserve, enhance and expand our natural public spaces. Read more

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, like all provincial parks, belongs to the people of Ontario, present and future. The current government has no moral right to sell off all or part of a provincial park, Bill 5 not withstanding. The people of Ontario have not given their permission for any sell-off. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006, and changes to the Historical Parks Act that would enable development in Wasaga Beach under the guise of heritage restoration and economic growth. Read more

As a young person who grew up in Ontario, I feel betrayed by the proposed sale of parts of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Ontario Parks are our heritage that needs to be protected. I am strongly against this proposal.

Stop the sell-off at Wasaga Beach. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is public land that belongs to all of us. I am deeply concerned about the proposal to sell it.

I reject the notion that the responsibility of Wasaga Beach should be transferred from MECP to MTCG entirely. The importance of the biodiversity and animals that rely entirely on Wasaga Beach for survival should not be understated. Read more

While supporting the Town of Wasaga Beach’s objective to increase tourism and attract investment is a respectable goal, Ontario’s parks belong to all Ontarians and removing part of one takes away more from all of us than any economic opportunity can justify. Read more

I am completely against this proposal to sell off parts of the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park or any other Provincial park or publicly enjoyed space. Changes to this important legislation will only set the stage for future governments to sell off assets to private interests. Read more
