As an Ontario resident I am very opposed to the removal of the Ontario Endangered Species Act. It makes no ecological sense, and will only act to harm an already precarious and delicate system, which is already facing many threats from human encroachment and climate change.

We need to protect the animals that make our country incredible. They’ve been here long before settlers came to the land and they deserve to be protected. Repeal bill 5.
I do not support the decision to implement the Species Conservation Act in lieu of the former Endangered Species Act, as it was prior to amendments made in June.

I do not see how this could possibly help preserve the fragile species and ecosystems for future generations. Being natural stewards for the future is of the outmost importance to anyone that drinks water or breathes fresh air.
I oppose the exclusion of the 64 species classified by COSSARO as special concern, just because they were not covered under the ESA does not mean that they are not at risk now and do not need protection. I also oppose the exclusion of the 42 aquatic and migratory bird species.

The vague proposals in ERO #025-0909 and 025-0908, regarding regulations under the Species Conservation Act (SCA), obfuscate the impacts of species at risk protection and recovery in Ontario.
