This will negatively impact the ability of each conservation authority to do the focused work unique to their ecoregion. Each of these authorities was established for a region defined by natural boundaries for a reason. Read more

As a resident of Thunder Bay, I am OPPOSED to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”. Read more

Some of the boundaries need to be revised. The proposed areas should have similar hydrologic profiles, similar soil and stream bed types, the same final outlet of the watercourse, and preferably the same regional storm for modeling purposes. Read more

This proposal is wrong on many different levels. Leave the conservation authority system as it is. Flooding avoidance and conservation of natural areas are extremely important to longterm human health and safety. Read more

I am very opposed to the concept of amalgamating conservation authorities. My late father was a member of the SCRCA board and, as such, I learned a great deal about the work of the Authorities. I do not believe the works of these Conservationists will be handled better through changed boundaries. Read more

Amalgamating a business with 36 offices to 7 would be a colossal mistake, and you know that - yet here, it’s the environment, our only home, that you’re endangering. Please don’t do this. In fact, grant each office a million dollars as an apology. Please don’t ruin our province. Read more

This amalgamation of the lakehead conservation area with an eastern conservation area is ridiculous. Why would you amalgamate two different watersheds. Time to make North western Ontario its own province.

This move is akin to having one mayor and council, let'e say for all towns/cities in Grey County. We know our area and issues and people. An important issue in our watershed might well become lost within a larger organization. Read more

This is a waste of taxpayers money. The system in place works and will become worse with the added bureaucracy layer. My understanding is that the province doesn’t pay much for the CAs currently, why would we want to pay even more for a system that already works?

I live in Thunder Bay in northwestern Ontario. The Province's proposed changes to regional conversation authorities make no sense as they pertain to the Lakehead Region Conversation Authority. Read more

I see that this bill received Royal Assent on Nov. 27, after being put forward on Nov. 6 and having had debate adjourned. Yet, I read in the comments above that the Province is interested in receiving feedback from the people about this massive reorganization of Ontario's conservation authorities. Read more

The consolidation of conservation authorities from 36 into 7 is not a well thought out idea and it will cost way more and rural areas that benefit from their services will be negatively impacted. Read more
