The HCA is not in agreement with this absurd merger proposal and neither are we. Conservation authorities are in tune with the needs of the area which requires knowledge of local concerns regarding geography, waterways, floodplains and wildlife. Read more

The proposed changes neglect the ideas that different regions have different conservation needs. The government's idea of amalgamation takes control of important environmental decisions away from local entities in search of fake efficiencies. Read more

I agree with Hamilton conservation authority’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. I regularly use the conservation areas in Hamilton and believe they are well managed now. Read more

I have read both the proposal and the HCA response to this proposal. I agree with HCA’s submission. I am quite concerned about losing local decision-making. I have seen time and again what happens when decision making power is lost at the local level. Read more

I do not support the proposed merger of conservation authorities. Hamilton and Puslinch rely on the Hamilton Conservation Authority because it understands our land, our trails, our waterways, and our community needs. These decisions need to stay local. Read more

I strongly oppose this bill as protecting nature and our citizens should continue to be a top priority of local decision makers. Fast tracking permits in areas representatives have no knowledge or stewardship of is a recipe for the destruction of our precious natural areas. Read more

Under NO circumstances should you merge the Conservation Authorities. Local Conservation Authorities understand the region's needs, landscape, and flora and fauna. Programming engages all members of the community. This is another attack on Ontario's environment.

I do not support the merger. It is important to keep these areas under local authority. The ecosystems spanning each area are also vastly different and it would be much harder to manage with these larger regional authorities.
