I would like to share a concer re: the requirement to move a houseboat 1km after 7 days. This requirement should include an additional requirement that the watercraft cannot return to the previous location after the 7 days, to avoid having a houseboat simply move back and forth every 7 days. I have on more than one occasion been out camping, and a whole site is set up with not one person at the site for the whole weekend. We need to add rules that campsites must be occupied to keep them.

It seems that requiring boats to move after 7 days may only create a “musical chairs” scenario when in fact you really want to reduce the traffic which is strongly objectionable. Read more

Aside from being environmentally dangerous, these structures have the potential of destroying the enjoyment of tax paying cottagers and permanent residents who will have to contend with their presence. Here is a short list of issues - lack of resources to monitor and enforce rules Read more

Not in my backyard is the same as not on my lake. I can understand the environmental concerns, but it would be available, affordable housing, which is sorely needed. Lakefront doesn’t imply that one owns the lake.

It is time the community stood up and protected our natural resources. Container homes are threatening our natural environment. They are using both land and resources that local residents have to pay taxes for. The township is suppose to safe guard this. Read more

Restriction to greater than 300 m from developed land is too restrictive - may cause the inability of a vessel to adequately and safely anchor due to excessively deep waters resulting in damage to the vessel or adjacent property should the anchor not hold under severe weather conditions. Read more

I am very concerned about any and all of the proposed changes to this regulation. There is no scientific research or studies environmental or otherwise to support any of the claims to change anything in this regulation. Read more

I do not see any reference to the number of people allowed on this type of vessel. We have regulations on the number of people allowed in a motor boat as well as the acquirement to wear life jackets. This should be addressed in your changes. Read more

I am not in favour of this for Kahshe Lake Muskoka. Too many of our cottages are water access only and I believe this could result in an unsafe condition for all vessels on the lake. Read more

Staying on a vessel overnight simply should not be allowed on small landlocked lakes in Ontario. Almost all the shoreline on these types of lake is privately owned. These owners have paid a lot of money to own this shoreline and they pay ridiculously high taxes to keep it. Read more

We are owners of a lakefront seasonal home on Georgian Bay near Port Severn. We support the proposed changes which would effectively stop floating homes being established, while protecting for cruising boats at anchor for reasonable periods. Read more
